Cool spots to Celebrate the 4th of July in Westchester

Peekskill fireworks at the Riverfront

The past two years I have celebrated the 4th of July at the Peekskill Riverfront and had a blast with friends and friends of friends. Several of us got there a bit early to secure a spot near the river for perfect viewing and a breeze to take the edge off the heat. Last year’s evening was hastily put together with emails, texts, and who is bringing what….you should have seen the spread of culinary delights! Some cleverly took the train from Croton, and others, like me, drove, either way whoever got there first staked out the spot for all. The kids all hung out together and scattered about until sundown, the adults ate, drank (ahhh white sangria!) and chatted away. Good times.

This year, the Peekskill Riverfront celebration is on Monday the 4th at dusk. Take a look at other happenings going on in the area.

Bear Mountain starts it all off this weekend, Friday the 24th at 9pm.
